Unicoi State Park and Lodge is a unique educational resource located in North Georgia, 2 miles north of Helen. Our programs provide education on environmental, cultural, recreational and historical resources. Our facility is suited for school fieldtrips, conference functions, scout troops, church, civic, and adult groups. You may choose a combination of the programs to fit your needs and schedule.

How to Plan a Group Program

The first step in planning for a group program would be to explore our list of program topics below. Select a program that is appropriate for your group’s size, age range, and time availability. Have questions or special requests? Contact us! We are extremely flexible when planning and coordinating, and we can work with you to design a program that is designed to suit all of your needs.

Scheduling Your Trip

To schedule a group program, contact our Activities and Programming Manager, Maranda Stone, at 706-878-4727, or by email at m.stone@unicoilodge.com. Making reservations at least 2 months in advance is advised to ensure dates of choice. When contacting us, please be prepared with the following information:

Group name, business, association or school

Person of contact (name, email, phone number)

Number of attendants

Age/grade level of the students or group

Program desired

Preferred and alternate dates of program

Time of arrival and desired length of program

Tax exemption status

Any special considerations (handicap accessible, hearing/vision needs, etc.)

Field Trips

Our field trip programs are designed for elementary age students from kindergarten through fifth grade. If there is a specific lesson not listed here, we can work together to develop a lesson that will give your students the experience you desire. Most of the lessons include a guided hike, a picnic shelter for lunch, as well as time in our playground area. Field trips take place at the Visitor Center unless otherwise arranged. Pricing varies depending on type of program and number of students.

Our outdoor programs can be modified to fit your group’s needs and wishes.

Pricing varies depending on type of activity, length of activities, and number of people participating.

Campfire, stories and S’mores (Average of 2 hours)

Full beach rental- Includes use of beach and all boats (only available from 9am to 12pm)

GPS Scavenger Hunt- Not Guided (Average of hour and a half)

Guided Nature Hike (Average of hour and a half)

Archery Class (Hour and a half)

Air Gun (Hour and a half)

Archery/Air Gun Combination Class (3 hours)

Fly Fishing School (Average of 2 hours)

Kayak/paddle board rental (by the hour)

Slack lining (1 hour)

Reptile Program- meet and greet with Unicoi’s reptiles with Master Naturalist (30 minutes)

 

 

Team Building Activities

Our team building activities are great for all types of businesses, family reunions, and any other group of individuals looking to grow closer and become more cohesive. The games and activities are designed to be fun and motivational, while also encouraging communication, planning, problem solving, and conflict resolution. All of our activities incorporate decision-making, leadership, teamwork, trust, creative thinking and following directions. Length of programs dependent on needs of group and number of participants.

10-100 participants

Minimum of 10

$15 plus tax per participant

A few of our team building games include:

GPS Scavenger Hunt- Hike around the park to find clues and coordinates

Acid River- working together, figure out how to cross the “acid river” using only certain body parts and foam boards

Acid Ball- pass the ball around in a circle, using fewer and fewer body parts

Helium Hoop- working together, lower the hoola-hoop to the ground using only the edge of your fingers. Its harder than it sounds!

Sherpa Walk- with a blind-folded partner, guide them across an obstacle course using only your words

 

Program Guidelines

Program fees vary based on program desired, amount of materials needed, length of program and number of participants.

A deposit of half the total amount is required for all group activities, at least 7 days prior to date of program.

A minimum of 10 participants is required.

A cancellation notice of at least 7 days in advance is required. If a cancellation occurs within 7 days, deposit will be forfeited. Program substitutions can be made due to bad weather or other circumstances beyond both parties control.

Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled program start time.

In order to maintain a safe and educational environment, it is up to the teachers, chaperones and adults associated with the group to monitor and maintain the order of the group throughout the duration of the program.

Please let us know about any special needs your group may have. We will do our best to accommodate all of your participants. Please let us know about any special needs (medical conditions, allergies, behavioral concerns, communication barriers, etc.) ahead of arrival.
