The nearby Bavarian-themed village of Helen, GA is host to great shopping, restaurants and annual events such as Oktoberfest and the Atlantic Hot Air Balloon Race & Festival. In the summer months, visitors can be found “shooting the ‘Hooch” as they float down the cool waters of the Chattahoochee River that pass through downtown Helen.
North Georgia’s numerous waterfalls and hiking trails bring visitors to the area year-round. Anna Ruby Falls, just minutes away from Unicoi State Park, is one of the most popular and most accessible falls in the state. Dozens of other waterfalls are within a reasonable driving distance from the park and many guests will use Unicoi State Park Lodge as a base for exploring the area. Other activities include fly-fishing in Georgia’s most famous trout streams and soaring through the park’s lush canopy on the Unicoi Zipline & Aerial Adventure Tour.

Unicoi State Park & Lodge hosts a number of annual events throughout the year created to bring park visitors and hotel guests alike together. Every President’s Day Weekend, Unicoi State Park & Lodge hosts the Fireside Arts & Crafts Show as part of the regional Winterfest Arts & Crafts Tour. The show features a number of local and regional artists and craftsmen demonstrating and selling their creations.
Each year Unicoi hosts a number of local Blue Grass artists as part of our Mountain Bluegrass Festival. Featured artists and dates are announced every year on our Facebook page. And while Helen, GA is in full swing of their long-running Oktoberfest, Unicoi State Park hosts a Fall Festival the last weekend in October. Guests can enjoy hayrides, campfires, crafts and a campground trunk-or-treat. Campers are encouraged to decorate their campsites for the festivities.
