Since our campground is one-of-a-kind, we’ve compiled a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions to give prospective Primitive, RV or Tent Campers the most accurate information prior to their visit to our state park campground.

1. How late can I check into the campground?

We asked that you setup no later than 9:45pm as to not disturb other campers.

 

2. Where do I check in for the campground?

Check in is at the Visitor’s Center within the campground, if you are arriving after hours or the Visitor’s Center is closed please go to the lodge front desk as they are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

 

3. What time is check in for the campground?

Check in time is 1pm for the campground.

 

4. What time is check out for the campground?

Check out time is noon for the campground.

 

5. What is a “walk in” tent site?

We offer 33 primitive walk in tent sites in the “Hickory Hollow” section of the campground, “walk in” means that you are not able to park your vehicle at your tent site and must “walk in” to the site. It can be anywhere from a few feet to a couple hundred yards our depending on what is available and which site you choose. These sites are a 16×16 camping pad and all tents must remain within this space. There is a picnic table and a fire ring with a grill top at each site. We recommend making a reservation as these sites do sell out, however what site you stay at is chosen at check in based on availability and which spot you choose. There is no way to reserve a specific site or guarantee sites next to each other. There is a comfort station that is heated with restrooms and showers nearby.

 

6. When is the “slowest” time of year?

The campground stays busy year round, specifically on weekends. However the slowest times of the year for the campground is typically January, February and early March. Weekdays are also usually slower than weekends.

 

7. How far in advance can I book my reservation?

One year before the departure date of intended stay.

 

8. What is a “Squirrels Nest Camping Platform”?

The Squirrel’s Nest consists of 16 platforms. Each platform is 15′ X 14′ and has a roof, a back wall, and is open on 3 sides. The platforms are built up off the ground and are stacked up the side of a ridge in 3 groups of 2 and 2 groups of 5.

Each platform sleeps 4 guests in sleeping bags. Air mattresses are recommended for adult guests. Tents are not allowed on the platforms or down in the hollow below. The “”hollow”” has grills, picnic tables, a group fire ring, and a small amphitheater.

The comfort station, heated, with restrooms and showers, is about 50 yards away. Squirrel’s Nest is a walk-in area.

 

9. How many RV sites do you offer?

There are 6 “Double Buddy”, 31 Power and Water and 13 Full Hookup RV sites.

 

10. What is a “Double Buddy” Site?

These sites are typically wider than our other sites and can accommodate 2 campers with power and water hookups for both. Please note that these sites are all power and water only and the dimensions of each site does differ.

 

11. Do you offer pull through sites?

Not at this time, all of our sites are back in.

 

12. What size are your RV sites?

The camping area for each site varies so be sure to read the description or ask the reservationist prior to booking.

 

13. Are all the sites 50 amp?

No some are 30-30 and some are 30-50, please be sure to read the description or ask the reservationist prior to booking.

 

14. Do you offer tent sites with power and water?

Our tent sites are primitive however we allow tents on our RV sites, please note that any tents must fit within the camping pad.

 

15. Can I car camp?

Only if you reserve an RV site can you park at and sleep in your car. You must also purchase a park pass.

 

16. Do you offer ADA sites?

Yes we offer 2 Full Hookup ADA sites that are closer to the comfort station and is paved.

 

17. I want to be a camp host, who do I contact?

18. Where can I find a map for the campground?

A map of the campground can be found here: https://www.unicoilodge.com/ga-state-park/park-map Should just be for campground map. There is a link to download a PDF of the map should you need to reference offline.

 

19. Can I put a tent on my RV site?

Yes as long as it fits within the camping pad, tents cannot be placed anywhere outside of the camping pad.

 

20. Do you offer Laundry?

Yes we do. The laundry area is located next to the visitors center and is free of charge for our guests.

 

21. Do you offer a dump station?

Yes we do. The dump station is located near the Little Brook Camping area.

 

22. Can I bring my golf cart?

Only if it is street legal.

 

23. Is there a gate to the campground?

No there is not a gate, so if you arrive late there is no issue however we ask you be setup no later than 9:45pm as to not disturb other campers.

 

24. When does the campground quiet time begin and end?

Yes, Quiet time is 10pm to 7am.
